Simple can be a thing of beauty.

Successful techie-types know there is beauty in taking something complex and making it simple for the end-user.

Whether you are using the internet, print or social media for communication, Keep it simple, clear & uniquely yours.

Simple is Passion

There are countless blogs and books about finding your passion. Have you ever noticed how you are drawn to those who express their passion best?

If you believe in your business, it shows. You don’t need gimmicks or $100,000 words (compounded for inflation) to make your point.

You use that passion and share it. You find a way to share your product or service that is simple for your customers to understand.

Masters of Simplicity

These are some of my favorite examples of Masters of simplicity. They keep it simple and clear, and the result is uniquely theirs.

Social Media Examiner

I met Mike Stelzner when I signed up for White Paper Boot Camp in San Diego.

Mike is the Master for writing white papers. His book, Writing White Papers: How to Capture Readers and Keep Them Engaged, is a well-written, easy-to-follow guide on writing white papers.

Mike understands the art of making the complex simple. He took that skill and became the founder of Social Media Examiner, a free online magazine devoted to providing businesses with help in using social media.

In just 10 months, Mike has built the magazine into a million dollar business.

The real beauty of the magazine is how Mike and his team of writers make social media simple. If you have questions about social media, you will probably find answers at Social Media Examiner.

Business Writing Blog

Some of you may be wondering why I would recommend another business writer’s blog. It simply offers some of the best business writing tips I’ve seen.

Lynn Gaertner-Johnson, of BusinessWritingBlog, is the Master of business writing knowledge. She offers everything from tips on grammar and punctuation to business writing etiquette. Lynn keeps it simple.

Lynn is also the founder of Syntax Training that offers business writing courses and train-the-trainer programs. If you want comprehensive, simple-to-understand business writing tips, BusinessWritingBlog is a great source.

Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)

The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) is a favorite resource of mine. OWL offers over 200 resources, including help on writing, grammar, style guides, and English as a second language.

The simple layout of the site makes finding answers easy. OWL is the Master of writing education.

When my baby boomer brain has temporarily forgotten my grade school grammar lessons, this is a great way to revitalize that sleeping brain cell.

The Best Keep it Simple

Whether it’s technology, business writing or other forms of communication, the best keep it simple.

These are just a few from my Masters List. Do you have others?
