Keyword Search Made Simple

Keyword

Bloggers and marketers are in a constant search for the perfect keywords.

The word search game is often an educated guess – some more educated than others. I tend to fall into the “not so much.”

A Loss for Words

It’s not often that I am at a loss for words, but when it comes to optimizing my web content, I admit I am often stumped by keywords.

In case you are new to the whole word search thing, keywords are those words or phrases someone puts in a search engine to find something on the internet. The idea is that you want them to find your site or blog by using those keywords.

Since I sometimes have a hard time understanding how my mind works, projecting keywords for someone else is beyond me.

Word Wizards

The good news for word search is there are some great tools that are simple to use. Since this blog supports simple, here are some of the tools from the word wizards that are really good at this kind of thing.

WordTracker Question Search

Apparently, WordTracker is a research tool for the real Search Engine Optimization (SEO) pros.

Fortunately for a definite non-pro like me, there is a free, simple search tool offered by WordTracker. It’s their Question Search tool.

Put in a word or phrase and the tool lists questions about the topic and the number of times it’s been asked. It’s like getting the answers to a test. You now know what inquiring minds want to know.

YouTube Keyword Tool

Just about everyone I know has been to YouTube to view videos. Here is something you might not know – YouTube is the second largest search engine.

The YouTube Keyword Tool is another word search tool that gives you the volume of key phrases.

Topsy

I learned about this tool when I kept getting comments that told me there were tweets mentioning one of my posts.

Sadly, spammers have us so paranoid, I wasn’t sure if I should delete this Topsy comment. I was glad I researched it first. Topsy gives you a peek inside trends in Twitter world by the links people are sending and how popular those links are.

This is a great tool for seeing what’s popular right now, but it also has a filter that shows the volume by the day, week, month and all tweets on the topic.

Word Help

I have not found a tool that writes your blog for you – unless you include a ghostblogger as a tool – but when you need some help coming up with an idea, these are great tools.

What tools do you use?
