15 ‘Tis the Season Post Ideas

by | Dec 12, 2021

Are you taking the rest of the season off? Who could blame you? After the pandemic-induced chaos, putting your feet up to enjoy your favorite brew sounds divine.

So you do not have to stress unnecessarily, the following is my gift of 15 season post ideas for your business blog.

Season Post Ideas

The holiday season is exhausting. Throw in a dash of a global pandemic and it is not surprising to have our creativity needle hovering on empty.

Regardless of which holiday you celebrate, you can tap into several ideas for your business blog.

  • Once again, I’ll use my Miller Mind-Mapping technique to get started.
  • If you don’t know what that is, the revised video below will catch you up.

Season Post Word List

This list has five random words associated with the holidays. With the variety of holidays, your season post ideas may look quite different. Make it your own. ‘Tis the season, after all.

  1. Snow
  2. Wrapping paper
  3. Family gatherings
  4. Lights
  5. Bowl games

Let’s apply the above words to business blog post ideas.

Snow

I spent over 20 years in San Diego, so I know not everyone experiences snow this time of the year. But you cannot help hearing about snow somewhere in the world. Especially with global warming.

What ideas can we get from snow?

1. Snowed Under

  • Talk about a time you were buried in work.
  • How did you meet customers’ needs?
  • Were you able to meet demand and still deliver high quality?
  • Share tips for handling high-volume while still producing high-quality.

2. Snow Job

  • Discuss how hard it is to snow customers on inferior products or why it is a bad idea.
  • Offer best practices for marketing/transparency.
  • Highlight the value of long-term relationships versus short-term gains.

3. Snow Shovel vs. Snowplow

  • Compare manual processes to technology tools that make business easier.
  • Is there a time when a shovel works best?
  • Or should you plow a path with technology?

Wrapping paper

4. Finishing Touch

  • Share ideas for putting the finishing touch on a sale – a marketing campaign – a business project.
  • Describe how to wrap it up.
  • What ties it all together?

5. Business or Playful

Sometimes you wrap your package in business-like stripes and other times in playful wrapping with giggling snowmen.

  • Discuss the personality of various social media platforms.
  • Describe a campaign that really worked (or one that crashed).
  • Engage readers for their thoughts.

6. Do-It-Yourself or Professional

When do you (and your readers) know to do it yourself versus outsourcing business functions?

  • Provide examples of how your products/services save customers time and money.
  • Use case studies to soften the tone.

Family Gatherings

7. Preparation

Even when it’s your family (or a long-time client), you need to prepare for a get-together.

  • Discuss how you prepare for a formal or informal client meeting.
  • Share the pitfalls of taking a business relationship for granted.

8. Growth

It is interesting to see how family members change and grow through the years.

  • Share how your business has grown.
  • Disclose the mistakes you made.
  • Reveal what you learned.

9. Family Time

Family units are not always biological. Your business blog community is its own kind of family.

  • Create opportunities for readers to get to know community members.
  • Do feature interviews, blog posts or case studies.

Lights

Whether you use the twinkle of electric lights or the glow of a candle, lights are often a part of various holiday celebrations.

How can we use that to inspire business blog posts?

10. Illuminating

Call it an Aha moment or a bright idea.

  • Share some of yours from your business.
  • Ask readers to do the same.
  • What business moment really shined?

11. Glowing

  • Do you have a glowing testimonial?
  • Convert it to a case study.
  • Create a video interview.

12. Symbolic

From Christmas tree lights to the Chanukah Menorah, lights/candles are symbolic for certain beliefs.

  • Describe a business experience that flipped the switch to better business decisions.
  • How does your brand reflect your business?

Bowl Games

Truly an American affliction. Each year, more and more college football games are added to the schedule – many with less than inspiring results.

Let’s see if we can turn that around to build some inspiring business blog posts.

13. Hail Mary Pass

For non-football lovers (American football), the Hail Mary Pass happens when the team with the ball has one last chance to score before they lose the game.

The quarterback throws a long pass up in the air, hoping one of his teammates catches it for a score before time runs out.

  • Recall a time when you thought there was no hope, but came up with a winning, last-minute solution.
  • Describe the power of positive thinking, no matter what the odds.
  • Share an example/case study.

14. Fan Appreciation

Few fans are more loyal, vocal, or enthusiastic than college football fans.

  • Who are your biggest fans?
  • Run a contest on your business blog for your fans.
  • Reward them for their loyalty.

15. The Underdog

Las Vegas loves to lure people to lay down their cash on which team will win a bowl game, and what the point spread will be. Sports experts predict winners and label the underdog – the team they are sure will lose.

The wonderful thing about college sports – no game result is a sure thing. Underdogs do win.

  • Talk about the last time you beat the odds.
  • Show how you overcame the underdog label.
  • Especially if you were the one doing the labeling.

Closing Out the Year

In the next few weeks, another year closes. I hope this list of ideas carries you over into the new year.

What season post ideas do you get from the holidays? Wishing you all good health, happiness, and hope for a blessed New Year.

So, before I even finished reading your post, I tweeted your slide share. Because I knew full well that any mind map for me would involve incessant “recalculating”…
Yes, as you can tell, 15 ideas has never been a problem for me. The issue is sitting down and culling the 15 billion into one good post!

Wow, Cathy, didn’t finish your post, and creative ideas are already streaming down my mind!

Doing a video for a book I’ve translated recently would add value to both my site and the writer’s efforts; plus, he may even promote the video. Yay!
