My secret is out.
Okay, so maybe it wasn’t that big of a secret.
- I am what I call a talented amateur
- I will never gain the title of Grand Geek Master
- But, I do love to learn
- And I love to share what I learn
That got me thinking about all the different ways there are to learn techie stuff (how’s that for a technical term?)
- There are online resources (websites, training videos, podcasts, etc.)
- Books on techie subjects
- Seminars/webinars
How about you? What is your favorite techie learning method?
When you want to learn something new, whether it’s about blogging, social media, software – whatever – which is your preferred method?
Vote below and let us know in Comments how you categorize yourself —
- Talented amateur
- Grand Geek Master
- Or some other title

Love the term “talented amateur.” That’s exactly what I am. I do all my own tech stuff, and I’m almost completely self taught. My preferred method of learning goes something like this:
“Hmmm, I wonder what this button does.” [Clicks it]
“Oops. That’s not what I meant.” [Ctrl Z]
“Hmmm, I wonder what *this* button does…”
It’s not efficient and I miss a lot of important stuff, I’m sure, but it’s fun, and I learn a lot this way. 🙂
LOL, Cindy! 😀 I know that method.I always try to figure things out-some by trial & error and some by research. That’s why I was particularly annoyed when the forum coordinator made a comment that I gave up too easily-what?!
Thanks for sharing your method, Cindy. 🙂
