Now Facebook is Messing With Your Email Address

by | Jun 26, 2012

Once again, Facebook has made a change you probably don’t know about – unless you picked it up from the blogosphere.

  • Do you think the people that run Facebook are bored?
  • Are the new multi-millionaires looking for things to do?

Facebook changed your default email address that appears on your timeline.

Cha-cha-cha-changes

If you don’t want the Facebook email address, here’s how to change it.

1. Click on your Profile

2. Click on About

3. Click on Edit on Contact Info (lower right side of About page)

4. Select email you want visible & click on drop-down menu.

5. Select Shown on Timeline – or – Hidden From Timeline.

6. Click Save at the bottom.

Another opt-out moment brought to you by our friends at Facebook.

You’re welcome, Sharon. A lot of us did since it was the usual unannounced FB change.

Cathy, I just made the changes. However, I don’t have Timeline (and won’t unless forced to), so the process was a bit different.

Like John, I don’t have timeline… truth is I don’t like facebook at all and am only there reluctantly. Thanks anyway.

Hi John & Anne- huh, I thought Facebook already forced everyone to Timeline. I don’t have a business page so that might be different.

John-do you even have to worry about it if you don’t have Timeline?

Anne-I’m right there with you (as you can probably tell by the graphic at the top). I hate that I’ve been hooked to all the photos of my nieces/nephews and grand-nieces & nephews. Otherwise, I’d be out of there in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the heads-up Cathy. Good to hear your voice on the conference call this morning. I think Greg and I could switch identities. 🙂

No problem, Wade, and it was good hearing your voice, too, or wait-was that Greg? 😀

Facebook absolutely grinds my gears. I think they need to give you notification of the opt-outs. Isn’t there a law that kind of requires that in some cases?

Thanks. I’ll go change it now.

No law, (that I know of) but there should be. Couldn’t agree more, Lori…Grrr… 🙁

Is that right, Roy? I’m not sure how I feel about that. Other than our blogging tribe, I use it very little for work-related activity. I just don’t like how they operate. The whole you have to find out on your own what we changed and opt-out approach drives me crazy.

The only reason I’m still there is I got sucked into the re-connecting with family members.

Thanks for sharing the info, Roy.
