Marketing gurus preach that the key to success is finding a need and filling it.
Sounds good on paper (or screen), but the tough part is finding that need.
Short-Sheeted
Here is a need for you entrepreneur, engineer-types – find an easier way to make a bed. Start with the so-called “fitted” sheets.
After tugging, and lifting, and stretching a sheet designed not to stretch, I am letting the world know – we need a better way to make a bed.
Make Your Bed & Lie in It
Like making the bed, I struggle with what need I should be filling. Do you ever feel that way in your business? I often tell friends that if I could come up with just one, really good idea, I could retire.
Think about it. Doesn’t it seem reasonable that if someone can become a millionaire off a Pet Rock idea, that we all should be able to come up with something?
Find the Perfect Fit
Another thing I tell friends about finding that one good idea (can you tell I think about this a lot) is that engineers often design the best inventions.
My father was an engineer. Their minds are simply wired differently from us mere mortals. Despite my good genes, I did not inherit my Dad’s engineer brain.
Part of filling a need, is knowing what you can do to fill it. I know I cannot come up with a solution for the backbreaking sheet-wrestling dilemma of making a bed.
Nevertheless, I am a writer. So, why not use my writing skills and highlight this world-crisis need? Consider this my Public Service Announcement.
Bedtime Story
What is the moral of this story? Before you can fill a need, you must discover it. That often comes from our own painful experiences in life.
So, discover that need, find a way to fill it, and contact me if you want a Public Service Announcement.
Sweet dreams.

My secret for bed making? I don’t use a top sheet – just a washable quilt that serves as a sheet and a blanket… makes bed making if not wonderful at least easier.

My problem is that blasted fitted sheet. I can never seem to make it “fit” without major body contortions! Thanks for stopping by, Anne.
