I am on the home stretch for the Ultimate Blog Challenge.
My posts that received the most comments (so far) are those that offered some of the basics about blogging.
Seeking Answers
Since the theme of this blog is Keep it simple, clear & uniquely yours, I found that gratifying.
Armed with this renewed spirit, I posted a question on LinkedIn®, which for some strange reason is called Answers.
I asked what “mechanics” – Plugins, Widgets, etc. – of blogging did readers wish was simpler or better explained.
The only two responses I received said the mechanics were already simple. It’s the search for content that is difficult.
Okay, so maybe I am not as in touch as I thought I was. Bubble burst.
Back to Basics
I am by no means an expert on blogging. However, what I found is some of the social media experts forget that there is a huge spread of expertise on the “how-to” of blogging – or other social media platforms.
Unlike many of them who cut their teeth on computers, this Baby Boomer plays catch-up.
For example, when I moved my blog to WordPress, I became frustrated with Widget options. How could I know if I wanted to drag it to an Accordion, Drag-drop or Flow sidebar when I had no idea what those were? Am I just TOO basic?
Your Mission Should You Choose to Accept it
My mission is simplifying what is complex by taking it back to basics.
What I don’t know, I’ll find out. In some cases, that might be a referral to a good source, like today’s find, Daily Blog Tips, a collection of all things blog-related.
Whether it is business writing, social media or some other form of business communication, like you, I appreciate simple, clear ideas.
I hope you will share your ideas, comments, frustrations. Let’s see if we can’t just make this a bit more basic.
