Is business communication strategy the last thing on your mind? Lord knows COVID-19 derailed more than one business.
But, that’s okay. You can get back on track. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we’ll start with prior strategy.
Business Communication Strategy Revisited
In the post, Is Your Business Communication on Track, I shared ideas for creating and reviewing your strategy.
- It all came together in a loooong Slideshare presentation.
- A few of my readers felt it was too long.
- I didn’t disagree.
Analysis at the time supported longer presentations. Whether or not that’s still the case, I decided for this update to shorten it up.
- The presentation is divided into two categories
- The first (this one) focuses on ideas for creating your business communication strategy
- The second presentation (coming soon) will offer tips for reviewing how your strategy is working.
3 Categories for Creating Your Strategy
You may have different categories, but I’ll bet most of what you have will fit in one of the following three categories.
- Planning
- Execution
- Results
We all like to have a choice so I’m covering this portion of the strategy with two types of communication medium – an infographic and a video.
The Infographic
The following infographic offers a balcony view of the categories you should consider when developing your strategy. If you would like a copy of the infographic, you can download the pdf version.
For a front-row view of the categories, you can take a look at the video below. It’s shorter than the Slideshare version, but with more action than the infographic.
The Video
So, you have options for jumpstarting your business communication strategy for the year. It’s never too late to start and remember my favorite mantra ~
The next post of this two-part update will offer tips on reviewing your results to see how (or if) you need to tweak your strategy. What categories did I miss for developing your strategy? Leave your ideas in Comments.
Now that you have your strategy, take a look at Is a Business Communication Review on Your Radar? to evaluate how your strategy is working.
