Do you have a favorite quote?
- Perhaps it’s one that inspires
- Or one from a favorite writer
- Or one you heard growing up
If you are looking for business blog post ideas, start with that favorite quote.
The possibilities are endless. Let me show you how.
Ideas From the South
I often use quotes in posts. Sometimes, the masters just say it better.
But, to make my point for this post, I’ll use a quote from my favorite southern gentleman – my dad.
- My dad was born and raised in Tennessee
- He had a million sayings I call southernisms
- Typically, they inspire laughter – not business blog posts
Let’s see what one of his favorite quotes inspires.
People in hell want ice water – that doesn’t mean they’ll get it
Who Says It’s Hell Finding Ideas
I’ll take that southernism and raise you 10 – times three.
That’s Hot
- What business practice gets you hot under the collar?
- What’s your burning desire for the future of your business?
- What idea/product/launch totally crashed and burned?
- What hot product are you dying to own?
- How did you take a lukewarm marketing campaign and make it sizzle?
- What job is your idea of a living hell?
- Which entrepreneur/mentor/business owner do you think is hell on wheels?
- What’s your opinion of the hottest gadget out there?
- What business strategy/event/idea had you asking, “What the hell?”
- What social media discussion/topic got too hot to handle?
Iced
- How did you handle a chilly response to your comment/marketing/product?
- How do you keep ice running through your veins when business is headed south?
- What’s the coolest answer you ever received from a client?
- Are you a chip off the old block or the family rebel?
- How do you chill away from the office?
- Why did you decide to put an idea/product on ice?
- What did you do when your computer froze in the middle of a presentation?
- How would you compare your business to your favorite frozen delight?
- How do you chip away at your market’s resistance?
- When’s the last time you felt you were skating on thin ice with your business?
Getting It
- Who in your industry really gets it?
- Are you getting the response you need from your marketing?
- What’s your #1 secret for getting sales?
- How do you know your clients get what they need?
- What didn’t you get early in your career that you get now?
- How do you get feedback from your clients?
- Are you getting a return on your social media investment?
- Would you rather get it for free or work for it?
- How do you get over losing a sale/client?
- Are you getting what you’re giving from your business?
One quote – endless possibilities.
- What’s your favorite quote?
- Got ideas?

Hehe, you always come up with the most fun ideas, Cathy! “There’s no crying in baseball” is one of mine – maybe I need to try and get creative about baseballs and medical writing 😉
Nicky: I love that line (and the movie!) Ah, the possibilities: When a medical condition throws you a curve ball, or How crying is actually healthy.
Sorry, I can’t control myself. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your favorite, Nicky.
Great list of ideas, Cathy, and excellent reminder that anything can spark one – love this post! 🙂
Thanks, Sharon. I loved how it only took me minutes to rattle it off. 🙂
You’re right, you never know what’s going to spark an idea. Thanks for commenting, Sharon!
This just might be my new favorite post of yours Cathy. Great tribute to your Dad too…he would be very proud.
Thanks, Kim. I could write a zillion posts on my Dad’s southernisms alone. 🙂
I appreciate you stopping by.
