ShotsEver feel like creativity has taken a vacation without you? I am a business writer, and sometimes keeping creativity around is challenging.

Simple Solutions

For me, it’s usually when I am the busiest that I see creativity tip-toeing towards the door. Here are a few things you can do to close the door on its escape.

1. Creative Copy Challenge

This is my favorite shot of creativity. I visit Creative Copy Challenge on the weekends, although its creator, Shane Arthur posts a challenge twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays.

You can read my interview with Shane here.

Shane posts 10 random words or phrases. The challenge is to take the words and use them in some written form.

The results are amazing. There are ongoing series of murder and mayhem, funny stories, poems and stories that make you cry.

Today, there are 147 writers in one of the best communities I have ever been a part of.

You don’t have to be a writer to join the fun. We even have kids participating. Check it out. It will definitely get the creative juices flowing.

2. Free Rice

Free Rice is a game with a heart. For every answer you get right, it donates 10 grains of rice to the World Food Programme to end world hunger.

You select the meaning of a word from a list of multiple choices. The words start out easy and get more difficult as you go on.

Even if you find it easy, it is a good exercise for finding synonyms or other ways to describe a word.

3. Writing Prompts – Two for the Price of One

Creativity Portal offers a 365-day shot of creativity. It sends you a photo with text prompt each day to stir your creativity.

To fellow bloggers in the Ultimate Blog Challenge, this is a great way to find inspiration for a post.

Writing Fix is the second writing prompt. It was created for student writers but is helpful to anyone searching for an idea.

You click on the the button for a random writing prompt. It just may inspire another blogger.

Mix it Up

Sometimes just taking a break or a nice long walk will inspire your creativity gene.

In business, keeping fresh can be challenging, but it doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun. Check out these sites to mix your own shot of creativity.
